Advanced Obedience

We teach and encourage positive training methods using treats, toys, and verbal praise as rewards.  All instructors are volunteers and have earned at least one AKC Obedience Title with their dog.  All instructors complete a hands-on apprenticeship program and participate in continuing education.

Novice One

Continuation of Beginners class with the emphasis being more on preparation for showing your dog in AKC & UKC Obedience competitions. Novice classes are required to move into agility classes as they continue building a solid foundation for your dog to stay when required and to work off lead.

Dog must be six months or older, successful completion of TDTC Beginners, Junior Handlers or Advanced Beginners.

Your dog will:

  • Reinforce the skills learned in Beginners
  • Learn to stand for exam
  • Learn the Figure Eight
  • Learn the Finish

Novice Two

Successfully completed the Novice II evaluation or previously earned at least one leg of a CD or U-CD title.

This course prepares the handler and their dog for competition in Rally Obedience.

Dog must be six months or older. Successful completion of Novice I is required prior to entering this class.

Tricks

This class includes training & testing for AKC’s Trick Dog Titles. The main focus of the class will be Novice, Intermediate, & Advanced level tricks to allow teams to work at their individual level. Dogs must be under control on leash with a flat or martingale collar. Prior completion of the Canine Good Citizen title is helpful, but not required. We will use a variety of props to perform tricks. This class is all about having fun with your dog.

Dog must be six months or older. Successful completion of Beginner Obedience. 10-week course, one hour per week.

Your dog will learn:

  • Shaping/Luring/Capturing
  • How to use Props, Targeting, etc.
  • Handlers will be allowed to choose tricks that match the skill level of their dogs.
