We will soon have a new semi driver and a new load.
The new slate has been selected and will be voted on at the Annual Meeting, Friday, November 9. We have planned a Pot Luck dinner to be held prior to the meeting at 6 PM along with a silent auction of any of your unused or gently used dog-related items. Please plan to attend. There is a sign up sheet at the club for the Pot Luck Dinner. You may bring your silent auction to the club anytime and place them in the box on the counter.
I would like to personally thank my fine Board Members, Directors, and Committee Chairs for their fine job this year and being so great to work with. I could not have done it with out you.
Some of our accomplishments were: Revised the standing rules. Updated the By-laws.
(Both had not been done for several years), ordered flooring for Ring 4, hired a contractor to fix the roof, will plant several new trees, held 8 week-ends of agility or obedience trials, cancelled the Christmas Party and classes for one week along with the General Meeting for the first time in January due to ice, trained approximately 1200 dogs in four 10 weeks sessions, planned an obedience training seminar, and hosted the Award Banquet. The Board also met 6 other times, and we held 5 General Meetings.
Please give your continued support to the new Board and make it a plan to volunteer more and give more time to this great club that is made up of YOU…The volunteers.
Thanks to all for a great year.
“Over and out”

We’re asking a pledge of $25 for group sponsorship, and $20 for breed or other prizes. If you’d like to just sponsor obedience in general, I’d gladly accept a donation of any amount.
Since the premium has to be submitted soon, please respond to me as quickly as possible, but by November 5, if you can help us out.
Obedience is the foundation of everything we do in the club, so please seriously consider participating.

Obedience Training Seminar
Obedience Training SeminarTDTC is hosting a Connie Cleveland Obedience Training Seminar December 8 and 9th at TDTC. Connie held a seminar several years ago at our club and we all loved her so we decided to ask her to return. If you missed it the first time, don’t miss it this time. She is very knowledgeable, entertaining and most helpful. You won’t be disappointed or bored. There will be 24 working slots for those that want to bring their dog. These slots will only be available until September 30, when we will open them up to non- TDTC members. There is a waiting list already for non-members who want a working slot. . Unlimited auditing spaces will be available. Lunch is included in the price.
Connie is the obedience editor of the Golden Retriever News, author of Dogs are Problem Solvers…Handlers Should Be, and has recently produced a video program, Dogs are Problem Solvers: Complete Obedience Training. She travels extensively in the United States, South America, and Japan as well, to give seminars. Connie has trained six OTCH dogs, as well as a UDT Maltese and CDX Shih-tzu. She and her husband, Brian, share their home with 2 Labradors, a Shih-tzu and 4 Goldens. They are active in obedience and field trial competition.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1526938309278{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Stillwater sends out a very informative newsletter – COMPANION ANIMAL NEWSLETTER. Paws in the Park
TDTC participated in the annual Paws in the Park event this year – location Hunter Park. We have bragging rights on our representation at the public event! We were able to get our booth space set up next door to Channel 2 News and my boy Sting helped Krista Flasch introduce the event. Krista Flash had another segment on the event and Hunter & Mike DeLorey performed a live OB demo for Channel 2 while Mike gave a brief live TV description of what TDTC is all about and what we have to offer.
TDTC had a ‘stage’ time during the event and, again, we were able to persuade Mike to speak to the large crowd giving a little more in-depth description of what TDTC is made up of while Sadie & Laura Morris performed a live OB demo for the crowd.
A huge thank you to all of the members who participated in this event.
First I will list those who assisted on Friday evening to gather and help with set-up of the booth and assisted with tear down and hauling all of that equipment back to the club for storage. Thank you goes to: Mike DeLorey, Mariann Duca, Gwen Grandell, Sandy VanDeBerg (who drove to and from Bartlesville and deserves a huge round of applause for this effort), Gisella Klindera and Jan Logan
Thank you to those who represented TDTC under the booth tent and also did OB/Rally demos from 7AM-1PM (in alphabetical order): Yvonne Austin, Susie Brown, Sylvia Dale, Mike Delorey, Jewell Drinkwater, Mariann Duca, Gwen Grandell, Elaine Hammer, Randy Hartsock, Chris Hatchett, Sara Jane Jednacz, Ryan Jones, Tom & Pattie Kotch, Linda Maxwell, Laura Morris, Jill Perry, Glenda Poulos, Sheila Ryan, Carol Ryther, Sally Sanderson, Tanya Sims and Sandy Van de Berg.
A very special thanks goes to Sandy VanDeBerg for driving so many miles and going above and beyond the definition of volunteer. Special thanks to Dovey Ryan for being our demo ring, judge, teacher, steward, director…she covered it all!
Also special thanks to Jeri Hajek who gave many volunteer hours to help create this event but due to surgery was not able to be there in person but was available via telephone and to Gisella Klindera for also helping to create the event and being wherever/whenever she was needed – both of these girls served on the committee. As I was unloading my Border Collie, Buzz, in the parking lot to go meet the other doggies for our visit, one of the staff members came out of the back door of the facility and walked up to me. She greeted me and said, “I just want you to know how important your visits are.” She handed me a photo along with a photocopy of an obituary for Guy Michael Wolf. She said, “My brother died last week in Hawaii of Huntington’s Disease. As you can see, his happiest moments were when the therapy dogs visited him.” The photo shows a yellow Lab with its person, along with Guy, who is smiling. On the back of the photo is written, “Guy Wolf, April 2007, with Judith and Loving Puppy. Guy’s favorite time with the dogs.”
Guy was only 46 years old. Guy’s sister turned away and walked quickly back into the building. All I could think to say was, “I’m so sorry. Thank you for this.” I was so touched by this incident that I had to share it with everyone in Paw Pals and with club members, as well. I am so grateful that I can be a part of this effort, and I thank TDTC for supporting us in our very important mission. We may not realize how many lives we touch as we go on these visits.

Paw Pals Visit Special New Site
One of the Paw Pals teams, led by our President, Jill Perry and the talented Savana, has begun visiting the Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health, housed in the old Doctors Hospital Building on Harvard. Team members consist of Beth Ann Jensen and Belle, yellow Lab; Leslie Johnson and Buzz, Border Collie; Moira Lawson and Bailey, Miniature Schnauzer; Bill Spens and Annie, Standard Poodle; and Don Thayer and Raider, GSD. The team visits the Center on the second Tuesday of each month. Micah Davis, a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Therapist at the Center, orchestrates the visits.
This site is a bit unusual, in that the residents are mental health patients who live for a six-week period at the Center and who are in various stages of treatment when the team visits. Some are homeless; several have been off medication for some reason. Accordingly, the residents are divided into three groups, depending upon their treatment regimen. Almost all have welcomed the team with big smiles and open arms. At the October visit, some who were there the month before recognized the dogs and were very happy to greet them again. Some of the residents have dogs of their own and are eager to pet the visiting dogs and give them treats. The dogs certainly enjoy the attention.
Jill, who is ever resourceful, kicked it up a notch in October, since Don and Raider weren’t there to do their search demonstration. She suggested that the team do something different, in addition to her repertoire of Savana tricks and the team’s obedience drills. She lamented that the team had no way to show how the dogs were trained to go over jumps. Leslie had Buzz volunteer to be a makeshift jump by doing a down-stay. In a matter of minutes a “circus act” was formed. All the dogs sailed over him. Then, Jill lay down next to Buzz to form a broad jump. Again the dogs sailed over. Everyone was laughing at the improvised performance. The team has a lot of work to do on its “act” but is thinking of naming it the Doggy Cirque du Soleil (not really).
The Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health has turned out to be a very special place indeed for this Paw Pals team to visit. A Dogs Soul by Author Unknown
Every dog must have a soul
Somewhere deep inside
Where all his hurts and grievances
Are buried with his pride.
Where he decides the good and bad,
The wrong way from the right,
And where his judgement carefully
Is hidden from our sight.
A dog must have a secret place
Where every thought abides,
A sort of close acquaintance that
He trusts in and confides.
And when accused unjustly for
Himself, He cannot speak,
Rebuked, He finds within his soul
The comfort he must seek.
He’ll love, tho’he is unloved,
And he’ll serve tho’badly used,
And one kind word will wipe away
The times when he’s abused.
Altho’ his heart may break in two
His love will still be whole,
Because God gave to every dog
An understanding Soul![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/mk_page_section][mk_page_section][vc_column width=”1/3″][mk_image src=”https://tulsadogs.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/screen-shot-2018-05-21-at-5.05.06-pm.png” image_size=”full”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1526940280131{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]

Though we didn’t place both days, you would have thought that Aubrie and I had been crowned National Obedience Champion because of how proud I was of her. I was cruising Craig’s List in search of another large crate and read this post:
Date: 2007-09-27, 3:41PM CDT
Note to adopters
Lassie, Cleo, Rin Tin Tin and Toto don’t show up in rescue.
We don’t get the elegantly coiffed, classically beautiful, completely trained, perfectly behaved dog. We get the leftovers. Dogs that other people have incompetently bred, inadequately socialized, ineffectively “trained,” and badly treated. Most Rescue dogs have had it. They’ve been pushed from one lousy situation to another. They’ve never had proper veterinary care, kind and consistent training, or sufficient company. They’ve lived outside, in a crate, or in the basement. They’re scared, depressed and anxious. Some are angry. Some are sick. Some have given up.
But we are Rescue and we don’t give up. We never give up on a dog. We know that a dog is a living being, with a spirit and a heart and feelings. Our dogs are not commodities, things, or garbage. They are part of sacred creation and they deserve as much love and care and respect as the next Westminster champion. So please, please don’t come to rescue in the hopes of getting a “bargain,” or indeed of “getting” anything. Come to Rescue to give, to love, to save a life — and to mend your own spirit. For Rescue will reward you in ways you never thought possible. I can promise you this — a rescue dog will make you a better person.
