Paw Pals

Paw Pals is an AKC Recognized Therapy Group.

In order to become a member, a dog and handler must take and pass Beginner and Novice I Obedience classes at Tulsa Dog Training Club. The dog must also pass the Canine Good Citizen Test, and be at least one year of age. The handler will need to become a member of Tulsa Dog Training Club.

Once all of these requirements have been met, the handler can now apply to Paw Pals. They will fill out the application form and send it to the Paw Pals Coordinator, along with two Trainer Recommendation, copy of the CGC certificate, copy of the dog’s current vaccination record, and $40.00 to cover the cost of name badge and dog tag.

Once the Coordinator has received this information, a package will be sent to the applicant with the Paw Pals Facility list, three Supervised Visit forms and a letter with instructions on how to proceed. The applicant will contact the Team Leader of the Facility that they would like to go to.

It is recommended that they do not go to The Children’s Hospital or the Reading program at the schools while doing their Supervised Visits as these visits are for more seasoned dogs.

The supervised visits are done to introduce the prospective team to the different situations they may encounter while visiting the different facilities. They will also let the applicant know if this is something that the team feels comfortable doing.

Once the team has completed their visits and had three good reports, a name badge and dog tag will be ordered, and a membership list will be sent to the new member.
